La Banda Bassotti è arrivata/Beagle Boys arrived
Sono arrivati: il cugino Pietro e la sua famiglia detti la Banda Bassotti (3 figli sotto i 10 anni). Oggi subito amicizia con l'elefantino di Laguna. Lolluz (da interista fifone) è titubante, Pilù il più piccolo un po' spaventato e MaryTerry, invece, viene baciata appassionatamente.

They arrived: my cousin Pietro and his family: the Beagle Boys (3 children under 10 years). Today they had a friendly meeting with the young elephant of Laguna. Lolluz (being a Inter Milan supporter) is scared, Pilù, the youngest is not comfortable and MaryTerry, instead, is kissed with love.

30th of July

Evaluna ritorna/Evaluna is back
Chi l'ha vista? Finito il lavoro al BIS (2 settimane di passione con russi e russe a fare a gara a morderla) ha incassato i soldi e via, nella pazza notte di Patong. Speriamo che ritorni entro martedì per portarla all'aeroporto.

Who saw her? After 2 weeks of hartd work at BIS (chased by Russians boys and girls trying to bite her) she got the money and run... in the incredible Patong's nightlife. We are hoping she will be back in time for her plane for Milan on Tuesday.

Hooligan
Con l'età le passioni si accentuano e mi rendo conto di essere un soft hooligan. Ma è colpa mia se anche l'addetto ai lettini è un sostenitore del Magico Milan?

With age, the passions become more pronounced and I realize to be a soft hooligan. But it's not my fault if also the guy renting sunbeds at Naiharn is a follower of Magico Milan!

Breaking News
Incredibile! Il nostro rospo Maffo (chi ci segue conosce già il  rospo di casa ormai ospite del vaso dei gigli d'acqua da 3 anni nonosante le continue molestie delle donne di casa) è in realtà una rospa. O addirittura una rana (toro o mucca viste le dimensioni). ECCO le prove! Quella massa schiumosa che vedete nella foto altro non sono che le uova che in 7 giorni si tramuteranno in girini (ma quanti?). Serve aiuto sul da farsi. Help!

Incredible but true! Our Maffo toad (if you are following us you know our family's toad living in the water lillies pot since 3 years, despite the harassment of women at home) is not a he but a she. And, who knows, maybe a frog (a bull or cow frog as the dimensions). HERE'S proof! That foamy mass that you see in the picture are nothing more than eggs becoming in 7 days tadpoles (how many?) We need help on what to do. Please help!

Tiger balm
I balsami thai sono benefici. Una vera manna dell'unguento tutti usi. Se pensate che esista solo il blasamo di tigre però, siete fuori strada. Ce ne sono a bizzeffe, di tutti i colori e profumazioni, per tutti gli usi. I più ricercati e benefici (li abbiamo provati per torcicolli lancinanti e sinusiti lacrimevoli) sono quelli fatti dai monaci. Come le birre belghe!

Thai balms are beneficial. The real must all use of ointments. If you think that the only existing balm is the Tiger one, you are far away from the truth. There are galore: of any color and scent. The most popular and requested are those made by the monks, like the Belgium beers!

Shopping
Ognuno ha i suoi mall preferiti. O perlomeno quelli che frequenta più spesso. Per voglia o per necessità. Questo è uno dei miei templi pagani. Oggi ho dovuto cercare: una catena (in Thai si dice saw, come sega in inglese che invece si dice lin, che... finiamola qui tanto non ci capisco nulla) per incanalare l'acqua della nuova gronda nel vaso che andremo a comprare domani; una serie di cacciaviti Hes per aprire i ventilatori che traballano e cercare di fissarli; vernice TOA S03 per legno per ripitturare le travi del sala; dimer, cioé alternatori di corrente, che qui saltano come birilli; retine di plastica per gli scarichi del tetto che si intasano; etc. etc. E di tutto questo ho trovato solo un tot, per cui sono andato anche da Home Pro e poi... finirò spero domani con la lista ampliata dagli acquisti di giornata. Periodo di riparazioni.

Everybody has his own favorite malls. This is mine. Today I came to buy: an iron chain (in Thai saw) for the new gutter; some Hes drivers to open the fans and try to repair them; some paint TOA S03 for the sala woods; dimer 600 Watts (they brake like glass); and more and more. I found only a small part of it and I went to Home Pro, and, if I am lucky, I will finish up tomorrow with the new updated list of repairs going on.

Beh che proprio, proprio tutto il cibo Thai sia squisito è un'esagerazione bella e buona. Questa signora, ad esempio, vende gustosi snack. Vediamo se indovinate cosa...

To say that all the Thai food is delicious is really too much. This lady, for example, is selling yummy snacks. Guess what...

 WEEKEND in NAKONSITHAMARAT
Il Wat Phra Mahathat Voramahavihan è sicuramente uno dei templi più famosi e visitati di tutta la Thailandia. Dai Thai, ovviamente e da rari turisti. Infatti è stata giornata di interviste e foto con scolaresche. Il tempio oltre a non proiettare mai la propria ombra a qualsiasi ora del giorno è un vero spettacolo. Guardate voi (i polli, invece, sono del City Pillar, e ancora dobbiamo capire a che pro).


The Wat Phra Mahathat Voramahavihan is one of the most famous and visited temples of all Thailand. By Thais but not by foreigners. So, the day has been full of interviews and pictures with local scholarships. The temple is wellknown because is said that it's not projecting shade at any hour of the day and has an incredible atmosphere. Look yourself (the chickens are from the City Pillar, and we still have to understand the real meaning of them).

WEEKEND in NAKONSITHAMARAT

21st of July

Piedi nella sabbia/Feet on the sand
E' così bello mangiare coi piedi nella sabbia guardando il mare e ascoltando le onde. Romantico ma soprattutto vitale. Se poi si può gustare uno squisito soft boiled rice with shrimps per 80 Baht, allora siamo a Layan nel mio ristorante preferito.

It's superb to eat with the feet in the sand, looking at the sea and listening the waves. Romantic and lively. Then, if you are eating a yummy soft boiled rice with shrimps for only 80 Baht, that means you are at Layan in my favorite restaurant.

20th of July

Naithon Beach
Non sempre le cose cambiano per il meglio. Naithon ne è uno dei tanti esempi. Questa piccola spiaggia, una delle nostre favorite per il tramonto e per stare lontano dalla gente, sta diventando 'affollata'. Anche qui scritte in russo, negozietti e barettini sulla spiaggia (questi ok) ma troppe gru e muri che si ergono nella foresta. Ergo: nuovi alberghi e case. Non sempre bellissimi!

Things do not always change for the better. Naithon is an exemple. This little beach, one of our favorite for the sunset and to stay away from the mob, is becoming to crowded. Now you can find Russian signboards, shops, small bars on the beach (these are ok), and too many cranes and walls rising in the forest. Ergo: new hotels and houses. Not always beautiful.

Romanticherie/Romance
Oggi siamo stati a Cape Panwa, la punta sud-est dell'isola. L'ultima volta era tanto tempo fa, quando cercavamo casa: la gestazione di VillaPhuket. Che ricordi! Da allora siamo la famiglia durian per la mia malsana passione per il frutto puzzolente e da allora abbiamo casa qui! Amiamo Cape Panwa e il relativo albergo nel quale abbiamo soggiornato anni fa soprattutto per questi due motivi.

Today we have been to Cape Panwa. Last time we were here was long time ago, when we came to find a house in Phuet: VillaPhuket gestation period. What memories. Since then we are durian family, because of my unhealty passion for te smelly fruit and since then we have our home here in Phuket. We love Cape Panwa and the homonym hotel where we have been long time ago.

Il sole è tornato/The sun is back
Wow il sole è tornato tra noi (come forse il rospo maffo) e questo  è il mio paesaggio preferito in spiaggia (nella fattispecie Naiharn).

The sun is back again (like Maffo the toad, maybe) and this is my favorite landscape at the beach (in this case Naiharn).

17ty of July

Primo giorno di lavoro/First day of work
Oggi abbiamo portato Evaluna al BIS per il suo nuovo lavoro estivo, student councelor. Starà via 2 settimane e guadagnerà un po' di soldini. Pensare che fino all'anno scorso veniva qui come studente. Ora è un assistente al campo. Speriamo non uccida nessun bambino russo.

Today was the first day of Evaluna as student councelor at BIS. She will be out for 2 weeks gaining some pocket money. Until last year she was here at the camp as a student and now she is back as assistant. We only hope she is not going to kill any russian  kid.

16th of July

Mercato dei fiori/Flower market
Finalmente il weekend del mercato dei fiori a Sapan Hin (a Phuket Town). Un pieno di orchidee e affini condito da bancarelle di vestiti e casalinghi, cibo in gran quantità (e come da tradizione abbiamo mangiato il pesce alla brace in crosta, fish curry e sticky rice) e palco gigante per musica e karaoke. Il mio mercato preferito. Uno d questi giorni vi mostrerò i ceppi di verdure giganti saprofiti che ho comprato da attaccare alle palme.

Finally the weekend market in Sapan Hin (at Phuket Town). A park full of orchids and jasmines, dress stalls and all kind of food (as usual we ate barbecued fish, fish curry and sticky rice) and a huge stage for music and karaoke. This is my favorite market. One of these days I will show you the incredible vegetation I bought for our palm trees.

Ancora pioggia/Still raining
Scroscia che Buddha la manda (oggi è Bucha Day) così optiamo per tagliandi corporali, alias check dentista e pulizia del viso a Jung Ceylon (il super mall di Patong) da Takashi, maestro Jap di punti neri e maschere. Dire che il dentista è stato più rilassante è poco (almeno per la parte comedoni). Il naso che spunta è di Grazia.

It's raining like hell. The monsoon is giving us hard time so we decide for some phisical checks: dentist and face cleaning in Takashi, the main Japanese master brand in Jung Ceylon at Patong. Let's say that the dentist has been less painfull than the black spots removal... The nose in the picture is Grazia's.

Nightlife
Se Phuket è famosa per la vita notturna (in special modo Patong) un motivo ci sarà. Evaluna, la nostra supermodel, lo conferma. Qui è ritratta con la sua amica Karnika al Brush e nonostante l'ora tarda regge degnamente il colpo.

Phuket is famous for its nightlife, particularly Patong. Evaluna, our family supermodel, confirms. Here she is portrayed with her friend Karnika at the Brush and despite the late hour she is in great shape.

12th of July

Regali per i monaci/Monk's gifts
Il 15 sarà Asarnha Bucha Day, una ricorrenza buddista molto sentita, che commemora il primo discorso del Buddha ai discepoli dopo l'Illuminazione. E' anche festa di luna piena (siamo nell'ottavo mese lunare) e i ragazzi si preparano per un full moon party infuocato sulle spiagge di Koh Phangan. Io mi accontento di comprare un pensiero per il monaco del tempio nella foresta nel reparto apposito al Tesco Lotus.

The 15th will be Asarnha Bucha Day, commemoration of the Buddha's first sermon to his first five disciples after attaining Enlightenment more than 2,500 years ago. It's also the eight lunar month full moon day, and youngsters are ready to join the huge Full Moon Party at Koh Phangan. For me it's too much and I am happy to go at Tesco Lotus to buy a present for my friend the monk of the forest temple.

Golosità/Gluttony
Essere golosi è una brutta bestia. Ogni luogo ha le sue delicatessen e io i miei vizi. Questo è la thai golosità: frutta disidrata candita. Il top è il pomelo seguito dal mango sweet and sour e dalla prugna salata. Squisitezze musulmane della zona.

To be greedy is a beast! Every place has its own delicatessen and I have my vices. This is my favorite Thai gluttony: candied dry fruit. The top of the tops is the pomelo followed by mango sweet and sour and by the salted prune. Muslim's delicacy of this area.

10th of July

Backstage
Finalmente ho fatto anch'io delle foto di backstage. Non era certo un set come quelli dell'amico Settimio con donne da favola e costumi succinti. Mi sono dovuto accontentare di un servizio fotografico orientale (non so di dove fossero se giap o boh!) di abiti da sposa lungo la spiaggia di Surin. Bello lui in rosa e azurro. Con gli amici surfer in background.

Finally I did a backstage photo session. Nothing like the one of my friend Settimio with super models and small bikinis on (!). This was an Oriental set of wedding dresses (maybe from Japan) on Surin beach. Great the bride and the pink/blue dress. With surfer friends on the background.

Pronti per il surf/Ready to surf

Quasi pronti per la nuova stagione. L'onda c'è, la stagione regge e, la squadra di salvataggio come vedete l'ho già allertata. Manca Rick, il coach aussie. Se ne avrà ancora voglia siamo pronti per l'onda.

Ready for the season. The wave is ok, the weather either, the rescue team - as you can see - has been recluted. I just need to catch Rick, the Aussie coach, an we are all ready for the wave.

Shopaholic
E' così che si finisce per il troppo shopping? A gambe per aria?
Più che altro qui in Thailandia si finisce congelati causa aria condizionata degli shopping mall.

Is this the end for too much shopping? Legs in the air?
Here in Thailand you will end frozen because of the air con inside the shopping malls.
